Our client, an international reinsurance company, provides its customers with high-quality security for non-life reinsurance solutions. It underwrites Property and Casualty reinsurance for clients based in Continental Europe and Trade Credit, Surety and Political Risk reinsurance on a global basis.
Our client takes a wholistic approach to underwriting all non-life lines of business, be it treaty or facultative reinsurance. To its customers our client aims to be a reliable partner across the entire underwriting cycle, engaging in sustainable and mutually beneficial relationships.
On behalf of our client we are now recruiting a dedicated
Senior Casualty Treaty Underwriter (m/f)
for its reinsurance underwriting team.
Location: Zurich
Candidate’s key qualifications:
- Solid casualty background with focus on casualty treaty reinsurance business
- Profound understanding of third party liability, motor and accident classes and corresponding market practice in Continental and Eastern Europe
- Minimum 5 years treaty underwriting experience with strong technical & pricing capabilities (excess of loss and proportional reinsurance treaty covers)
- Good understanding of client casualty programs and performance in relevant markets (DACH)
- Open minded and at ease with negotiating reinsurance programs (ideally in various languages)
Key accountabilities:
- Treaty underwriting for casualty business (motor, liability, accident): independent analysis and preparation of client data, clarification of structure and exposures, carry out pricing process formulation of peer review / underwriting approval documents, ensure smooth interaction with actuarial function and operation unit (correct and complete data entries), provide administrative support where needed
- Marketing & market analysis: close and frequent interaction with clients and brokers, business travel / client visits, analysis of macroeconomic developments in relevant markets, build up of research network with clients economists and market research, contribution to Catlin publications
- Risk analysis (cedent, line of business, country) and exposure control: Identification of cedent’s exposures, independent information search to complete information, ensure adherence to exposure and limit framework, contribute to further development of exposure and reporting tools
- Active contribution to build up of Catlin Re’s reinsurance team culture by flexibly assuming ad hoc tasks
- Project management: independent pursuit of assigned projects in client / market / operational areas
- English & German verbal/written proficient language skills, any additional language is an asset (namely French and Eastern European languages)
- Finally, and in addition to the above key accountabilities, you may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the Company may reasonably require.
